How the class works
Weekly lessons focus on different elements of film – camera, editing, sound, narrative, etc. Classes will typically be lectures with accompanying PowerPoint presentations and excerpts from films. Students are encouraged to ask questions, make comments, and bring their own interests into these classes. Interrupting the “lecture” is not a problem, and I will be happy to have group discussions about the topics we are covering.
Through various assignments, students will learn the precise vocabulary to discuss those filmic elements, finally bringing them together to build a deeper understanding of film as an art form and communications medium.
